Local faith leaders to fast amid SNAP benefit lapse

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Local faith leaders will be fasting in solidarity with those who rely on SNAP benefits, they announced Monday.

They gathered at Calder Plaza in Grand Rapids to announce the interfaith fast.

“Perhaps none of us thought that we would be at a juncture where federal funding for food assistance would have stopped because of a government shutdown,” said Rev.
