Grand Rapids nonprofit gets $10K for youth program

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Grand Rapids nonprofit that was just announced as one of five winners of a $10,000 grant through the city and its SAFE Task Force is sharing what it plans to do with the winnings.

Breaking Chains, Building Crowns is a fairly new youth program that the founder says focuses on helping kids transform their pain into purpose.

The group was just established in August of this year — but the mind behind it, Katrina Winston, has been working with youth for years.
