Huff Park housing plan on pause after community pushback

A potential high-density housing development near Huff Park has received pushback from the community, with many citing environmental and density concerns.

The development would include 24 housing units. Twenty-one units would be newly constructed townhomes, and the remaining three would be repurposed from existing homes on the site. Because the properties are located in a low-density residential zone district, a special use permit is required.

A petition against the project currently has 7,567 signatures. It says the development would “more than triple the neighborhoods’ existing density” and urges the City Planning Commission to “support development that is harmonious with the existing adjacent housing and is sensitive and sensible to how it borders Huff Park.”…
