A resident of the 28th street area in Grand Rapids reported a theft of catalytic converters from their 2007 Prius late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. The victim, a 21-year-old who admits to not knowing much about cars, was surprised to learn that catalytic converters, particularly those on Prius models, are a common target for thieves. The thieves were so stealthy that they managed to move the car away from the curb for easier access without alerting the victim, who had parked the car right outside their bedroom window.
