GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — As Thanksgiving approaches, an event Saturday in Grand Rapids helped feed hundreds of families.
The fifth annual ‘Coming Home Turkey Giveaway’ drew a line stretching far outside of the Garfield Park gymnasium. Melvin Shelton, the director of Coming Home LLC, said when he saw the line stretching out of the gym, he felt nervous. “Seeing all these people was a little bit frightening,” he said. “But seeing all these people that I’m serving, helping a lot of people.”
