Prosecutor: GRPD shooting of man, dog bite justified

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — An officer-involved shooting that seriously injured a man on Grand Rapids’ West Side in September before he was bitten and dragged by a police dog has been ruled justified.

Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker not only ruled the shooting justified, but also filed charges against the man who was shot.

While Grand Rapids police have refused to release body camera or dashboard camera video of the shooting, citing privacy, WOOD TV8 obtained Ring camera video from the suspect’s family.
