Man accused in fatal Ottawa County dog stabbing also allegedly cut grandmother

OTTAWA COUNTY, MI — A 23-year-old Grand Rapids man accused of fatally stabbing a family dog during an Ottawa County home invasion also allegedly stabbed his grandmother a few weeks earlier.

Jason Neshawn Varnado was scheduled to appear Friday, Dec. 5 for a hearing in Grand Haven District Court on three felonies for the Nov. 18 home invasion.

At the hearing, a judge agreed to reset the next court date for Varnado — scheduled for Dec. 19 — to a later date. The reason for the delay wasn’t immediately clear…
