GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say an 18-year-old is facing a murder charge after a man was shot and killed in Grand Rapids last month.
Darrius Jones is expected to be arraigned Monday on charges of open murder and felony firearm, according to the Grand Rapids Police Department.
‘A piece is gone’: Family remembers Grand Rapids man shot, killed
Jones is accused in the Nov. 12 death of 22-year-old Amari Hodges. That night, police in the area of Hall Street SE and Kalamazoo Avenue SE heard what sounded like gunfire. Then, they found a car that had crashed into a light pole. The driver — later identified as Hodges — had been shot, police said. Though first responders tried to help him, he died on scene.
