Drivers looking to get on southbound US-131 from westbound I-196 in Grand Rapids will have to use a different route until further notice after a semi-truck carrying 140,000lbs of pea gravel and sand crashed Tuesday morning, according to Michigan State Police (MSP).
The semi was going south on US-131 around 11 a.m. when the front end began to “pitch” left, and despite the driver’s attempt to recover, troopers said that’s when the truck drifted into the westbound I-196 to southbound US-131 ramp — crashing into the concrete wall before it became partially wedged under the ramp…
