Rockford tapped to explore mixed-use housing tower near Amway Stadium in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — The Grand Rapids Downtown Development Authority has tapped Rockford to explore the construction of a mixed-use housing development, partly funded through a Transformational Brownfield tax incentive, adjacent to Amway Stadium.

On Wednesday, the DDA approved a letter of intent that would provide the Grand Rapids-based construction firm, which is also building Amway Stadium, with up to 12 months to conduct due diligence and evaluate market conditions for the project.

“This is just sort of the next step in moving that development forward,” said Tim Kelly, president and CEO of Downtown Grand Rapids Inc., which oversees the DDA. “It gives Rockford a chance to start doing some due diligence and understand what’s going to be possible on that site.”…
