Grand Rapids drivers slide, get stuck on slushy, snowy roads

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Snow and rain fell across west Michigan overnight and with temperatures dropping below freezing at night, roads could get even icier.

The conditions led many schools to close Wednesday. For high schooler Emmanuel Garcia Lopez, a day off school means a day on the shovel. He spent the morning shoveling the area outside of his house, clearing a spot to park before the slush turned solid.

“There is a lot of work to do, it is definitely annoying,” Lopez said. “The shoveling is definitely a lot worse since the snow was basically slushy.”…
