GRPS Board votes unanimously to approve new 2-year contract

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Grand Rapids Public Schools Board of Education voted unanimously to approve a new contract Monday night that would raise wages over the next two academic years.

GRPS and the Grand Rapids Education Association reached a tentative agreement two weeks ago. On Friday, the teacher’s union voted to approve the new deal.

The two-year contract, which takes effect immediately, will bring increases to teachers’ starting wage, including wage increases with each year of employment. Teachers also get their wage increase retroactively for the start of this school year…
