Creston businesses host holiday shopping event in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — On Wednesday, visitors to Grand Rapids’ Creston neighborhood along Plainfield Avenue can enjoy late shopping hours and art markets at over 15 participating businesses during Lights on Creston, an annual event.

“Lights on Creston is about connection — supporting small businesses, celebrating local creativity and making our corridor shine,” Nate Phillips, chair of the North Quarter Corridor Improvement Authority, said in a statement.

Beginning at 4 p.m., shoppers and tourists can ride a free holiday trolley between participating venues and attractions — including a holiday photo booth at Black Cat Bodega, live reindeer meet-and-greets at Kingma’s Market and an acrobatics show at Zeal Aerial Fitness.

“Performing in our community lets families experience movement, strength and a little wonder up close,” Christina VanDam, owner of Zeal Aerial Fitness, said in a statement. “It’s a joyful reminder that creativity lives right here on our corridor.”

Along Coit Avenue, visitors can explore the official Crestkindl Holiday Market featuring several local artists, including additional art markets at Transfigure Shop, Switchback Gear Exchange and Nourish Kitchen.
