Longtime Chefs Planning New Jazz Cafe with Spirit-Free Drinks in Grand Rapids

An upscale and sober dining experience with the vibes of the 1920s is coming to Beer City USA.

A new jazz cafe and restaurant called Cafe Jazzy Rose is in the works for 44 Ionia Avenue in downtown Grand Rapids. This is at the base of the Dwelling Place 50 Weston apartment building. Owner and founder Joseff VanHorn is hoping to open the new location the first week of January.

VanHorn and co-owner Ben Kaja have been planning the restaurant since October. It will serve low-carb, healthy and quick dinner options, taking inspiration from locations like New Orleans and Chicago. A few items include fresh fish entrees, shrimp and grits and smoked meats…
