GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — As uncertainty about the date of health care subsidies continues to loom, leaders at one West Michigan free clinic said they are prepared for anything.
Oasis of Hope Center is a free health care clinic in Grand Rapids that offers services to individuals who are uninsured.
The center’s director Dan Braker told News 8 that he is hopeful the subsidies remain but if they don’t, he expects more patients coming through the door.

“I’m definitely concerned that if these subsidies go away, health premiums will go up for a lot of people, and a lot of people will just choose to not have insurance, or have no choice but to not have insurance,” he said. “Before long I would have to start recruiting new volunteer providers and maybe be open longer hours, with more volunteer staff.”…
