Colombians in theft ring get prison in $266K home burglary in Grand Rapids area

KENT COUNTY, MI – Two men tied to a nationwide theft ring that targeted small-business owners for burglary were sentenced to federal prison for burglarizing a Grand Rapids-area house.

The group allegedly stole $266,000 in cash, jewelry and other valuables.

William David Villarraga-Joya was sentenced Friday, Dec. 19, by U.S. District Judge Jane Beckering in Grand Rapids to 7 ½ years in prison. He was ordered to pay $1,178,021 in restitution.

Beckering sentenced Paul Jeferson Mendoza-Arevalo to four years in prison and to pay $586,852 in restitution…
