The National Weather Service issued an updated weather alert at 6:50 a.m. EST on Friday for heavy snow until 11 a.m. EST for Newaygo, Mecosta, Montcalm, Gratiot, Kent, Ionia, Clinton, Barry, Eaton and Ingham counties.
“Bands of snowfall with snowfall rates of a half an inch per hour coupled with winds up to 45 mph will cause reduced visibilities to less than a mile at times. This along with icy roadways will impact the morning commute. Give yourself extra time this morning and take it slow,” explains the weather service.
