Local retailers prepare for last-minute holiday shopping as Christmas approaches

GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WOOD) — Local retailers are facing one of their most critical sales periods as shoppers enter the final stretch before Christmas.

The Grand Rapids Chamber reports retailers earn about 75% of their annual revenue in the holiday season’s final six weeks, with the last five to six days before Christmas proving to be the most crucial.

“I think it’s just a lot of water, a lot of coffee and a lot of prayers and hopefully people are gonna be showing up,” said Richard App, retail retention and attraction specialist at the Grand Rapids Chamber.
