GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Many people celebrated Christmas a little early this year as Guiding Light hosted its annual community Christmas meal, opening its doors to anyone in the Heartside neighborhood who needed a warm meal.
Guiding Light is a local nonprofit committed to helping individuals recover from addiction. Their Christmas meal is a longstanding tradition meant to spread holiday cheer to those who need it most.

“It’s totally awesome, I’m so thankful,” David McIntosh said over a plate of food. “It shows me that people still care out here and made me feel warm, welcome and wanted.”
For McIntosh, it has been especially hard to get into the holiday spirit. After suffering a stroke, finding a job has been challenging, he told News 8. He has been homeless for a year and recently lost his daughter, who would have turned 41 this year…
