GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Less than two weeks after a Kent County judge denied a request to shutter the historic Sligh building due to safety concerns, repairs are underway to keep the shops inside open and safe.
A private settlement conference on Monday, Dec. 22, ended with all parties agreeing the three sprawling antique shops inside the Sligh Furniture building should remain open, Sara Lachman, an attorney representing the store owners, told MLive/The Grand Rapids Press.
“A number of repairs have already been made. Additional repairs are already authorized and underway,” she said. “Beyond that, they’re just having discussions between themselves and with the judge about any additional repairs.”…
