Mayor David LaGrande looks back on Grand Rapids’ growth in 2025

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — There has been a lot of development in downtown Grand Rapids this year. From a new amphitheater and soccer stadium to three new riverfront towers, the city is growing. Downtown Grand Rapids is seeing major growth as new housing, entertainment venues, and riverfront development move forward, according to Mayor David LaGrand.

“This is something that is going to let us put almost 700 residents in the downtown core, along with some office building and some other amenities,” said LaGrand. “It’s going to allow us to redo a portion of the river so that we’ve got some unified green space along the river.”
