Grand Rapids cook rebuilds life after homelessness

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Rezervoir Lounge stayed open Christmas Day while most restaurants closed for the holiday.

For cook Jacob Davis, working the shift meant more than earning a paycheck.

When the restaurant he previously worked at closed three months ago, Davis had no income as the holidays approached for him and his three children.

“The worst timing, possibly,” he said. “You’ve got Thanksgiving and then you’ve got Christmas right behind it,” Davis said. “How am I going to provide? How am I going to do it? Am I going to even have them? Are they going to be around? Can I make it work?”…
