GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — As the holiday season draws to a close, you may be looking for a way to get rid of your Christmas tree.
Grand Rapids residents have a few options to recycle live-cut trees. First, from now until Jan. 31, you can take your tree to one of three free drop-off sites:
- The north entrance of Riverside Park, 2001 Monroe Ave. NE
- MacKay-Jaycees Park, 2531 Kalamazoo Ave. SE
- The Ball Street parking lot of Huff Park, 2286 Ball Ave. NE
The city also has a compost and yard waste site at 2001 Butterworth Rd. SW, which is open year-round.
If you’d rather not haul your Christmas tree, Grand Rapids offers curbside pickup for a fee. First, you’ll need to buy a green bulk yard waste tag for $2.75. You can find these tags at City Hall or at certain local retailers. Then, you can attach the tag to your tree and place it in your pickup area on your normal trash collection day. The tree must be stripped of all ornaments and decorations, and the tag must be clearly visible…
