Donation drive in memory of Sparta father still seeking hundreds of blankets

CASCADE, Mich. — It began as a family’s way of honoring their loved one, and now hundreds of people across West Michigan will be feeling the warmth this winter thanks to the Project EAS Blanket Drive put on by a nonprofit organization called “i understand.”

“We have somebody that works for us. Her name is Sarah, and she lost her husband, Eric. So in honor of Eric, she had come up with a blanket drive, and the first drive she did on her own with her kids, they got 35 blankets,” said Vonnie Woodrick, the founder of i understand.

“She approached me, and I said, ‘Sarah, we can make this bigger. We want to help, and we want to support you through this, and in that way, you find the healing that needs to be found.'”…
