Where It’s Happening

Over the summer, police flagged similar thefts in both Southern and Northern Kent County. This time, incidents are cropping up mostly in northern neighborhoods.

How to Protect Your Property

The Sheriff’s Office offers these tips to help keep your belongings safe:

  • Use hardened coupler locks and wheel boots on trailers.
  • Avoid leaving trailers at job sites overnight.
  • Engrave or mark tools and trailers with identifying information.
  • Hide GPS trackers or AirTags inside trailers or equipment.
  • Keep a record of VINs, license plates, and serial numbers.

See Something, Say Something

Police are actively investigating these thefts but urge residents to stay alert. If you see suspicious activity call 911 for emergencies. For non-emergencies, dial 616-632-6100.
