Southwest Michigan man who bought threatened snakes gets probation

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Southwest Michigan man who admitted to buying two types of endangered snakes was placed on probation this week for what was called “several bad decisions.”

Scott Allen Hitchcock admitted to buying the snakes for $1,000 in Goshen, Indiana, in June 2020.

The two Louisiana pine snakes and the black pine snake are listed as threatened under the federal Endangered Species Act…
