Man sentenced after 15-year-old accidentally shot himself with unsecured firearm

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A Grand Rapids man has been sentenced to three years’ probation after an incident from 2024.

On Nov. 12, 2024, a teenager got hold of a firearm inside the home of Melvin Tommy-Shawn-Kelly House. The 15-year-old accidentally shot themselves in the shoulder, according to authorities.

When authorities were clearing the home, they noted multiple unsecured firearms. Additional firearms, cocaine and fentanyl were later found in the home during a search, according to court documents…
