Seasonal snowfall update: Michigan finally getting a normal winter

For snow lovers, it has been a slight return to normal in Michigan.

After multiple years of seeing below-average snowfall, Michigan is finally having a relatively normal winter of old, with many areas seeing snowfall accumulations comparable to years past. The Lake Michigan lakeshore has had to bear the brunt of the snow, alongside the northern lower peninsula.

West Michigan has seen decent snowfall totals, with the worst along the lakeshore due to the lake effect snow events that have taken place over the course of 2025 and into 2026. Grand Rapids reports almost a perfectly average snowfall total for the season, with 30.7 inches of snow recorded. This is 0.3 inches above the average.
