VERGENNES TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 79-year-old man died after crashing his car into a tree Wednesday afternoon in Vergennes Township, according to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office.
It happened on Lincoln Lake Avenue NE near McPherson Street NE just after 3:30 p.m., deputies said.

The Grattan Township man, who was the only person in the car, lost control before crashing into the tree, according to the sheriff’s office. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
