Local Farms Lend A Hand In Bean Cleanup After Truck Flips

There was an accident that took place recently in Michigan that resulted in 40,000lbs of pinto beans being overturned in a semi-truck during a harsh winter storm in Ottawa County Wednesday morning.

A report from WWMT details how the semi-truck lost control on 120th Avenue near Bingham Street around 5 a.m., and crews found they had  a bigger mess than just an overturned semi:

Luckily, the community came together and was able to help the driver, who was uninjured, and able to clean the bean mess in the back of the truck:

With the help of Dykhuis Farms’ tractor, vacuum, and hoses, firefighters were able to transfer the beans to a dump trailer. Reliable Road Service helped with removing the semi and hauling away the beans, and Ottawa County Canteen Services provided food and water for crews throughout the day…
