ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Chicago State University track teams hit the track for the Bill Clinger Classic hosted by Grand Valley State University. The Cougars had numerous top finishes on the day competing against great competition from around the region.
The men’s side was led by Xavier who had two top three performances in the horizontal jumps. Beatty finished second in the long jump with a 6.85m leap and third in the triple jump with distance of 13.97m. Earnest Davenport finished second in the high jump for another top finish. The reigning NEC Field Athlete of the Week leaped 2.02m for another solid result. The throws group saw a top finish as well with Kendrick Scott finishing third in the shot put with a throw of 14.62m. On the track freshman Faustin Kaseba made noise once again running to a third-place finish in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.22.
On the women’s side Lena Cleveland led the way by having two excellent performances in the horizontal jumps. The sophomore leaped 11.54m to claim the triple jump win and also finished second in the long jump leaping 5.51m. Freshman Bryanna Boroze led the throws squad 12.42m to finish fifth in the shot put. Boroze fellow freshman teammate Makiyah Brewton continued her strong showings with a 1.62m jump to finish fourth in the high jump. On the track two seniors led the Cougars as Katherine Thornton finished fourth in the 60 meter hurdles with a 8.91 finish and Weronika Stanczak finished seventh in the 1 mile run with a 5:12.20…
