GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man at the epicenter of a family fight that included cellphones being dumped into water and a teenage boy being shot in the foot is heading to prison for the April 2025 disturbance.
Andres Simon-Salgado pleaded guilty to four felony charges, including second-degree child abuse and weapons offenses for the incident that started as an argument in the family’s kitchen.
A Kent County judge on Thursday sentenced Simon-Salgado to between 23 months and 10 years for child abuse. He must first serve a two-year term for a felony firearms conviction. Two other gun offenses will be served concurrent with the child abuse sentence.
