CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A pileup involving 20 to 30 cars shut down a stretch of M-6 southeast of Grand Rapids Tuesday morning.
It’s not yet known whether anyone has been injured.
Crashes and closures amid ‘hazardous travel conditions’ Tuesday
The pileup happened in the eastbound lanes past 60th Street SE in Cascade Township, south of the Gerald R. Ford International Airport.
Michigan State Police called it a multivehicle crash “with a possible pin-in reported.” Kent County sheriff’s deputies said five semi-trucks were involved.
A News 8 crew overlooking the scene saw a number of vehicles that had slid off the highway and down the ditch and into the median. Multiple semi-trucks were stretched sideways across the lanes, some with their trailers hanging off the side of the road.
