Grand Rapids businesses closing Friday for nationwide ICE protest

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Grand Rapids activists are planning to join a nationwide “shutdown” on Friday, Jan. 30, including a boycott of businesses and school walkouts, in protest of recent fatal shootings by federal agents in Minneapolis.

Movimiento Cosecha GR, a Grand Rapids pro-immigration group, is organizing the protest locally and urging Grand Rapids residents to participate in a “day of no school, no work and no shopping.”

Several Grand Rapids businesses have also committed to closing on Friday in support of the protests…
