Cold weather advisories have been issued across Michigan for Thursday night into Friday morning as the next round of cold weather is here.
Wind chills between –15 and –20 degrees are expected tonight for much of the state as frigid arctic air enters the region. Luckily, the winds will be calmer tonight than last week, meaning that the regular air temperature and the wind chill will be closer together.
The Grand Rapids NWS notes that a strong upper level wave will pass north of Lake Superior tonight and will shift low level winds north east. This will push clouds offshore tonight and drop temperatures.
“This, along with a weakening wind, is going to allow temps to dive pretty good considering the entire area has quite a snow pack,” the Grand Rapids NWS said. “Ensemble means that did well with last Friday`s extreme cold support lows generally 0 to -10F.
