Dozens of Grand Rapids businesses closed today to join a nationwide protest against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement following a series of civilian deaths linked to the agency this month.
Among them is Spirit Dreams, an Eastown gift store at 1430 Lake Drive SE owned by T.M. Camp and his wife, Kealy Geery.
“We pretty easily came to the decision together this week (to close) as part of this national movement and protest with other businesses,” Camp said. “It was important to show our support for what these other businesses are doing, but also to stand in solidarity with the people of Minneapolis, Minnesota and what they are enduring right now at the hands of ICE.”…
