US Signal buys Illinois data center to expand AI cloud footprint

Grand Rapids-based US Signal Co. is expanding its data center footprint into the Chicago suburbs with the purchase of an Aurora, Ill. facility, the first move in the private equity-backed company’s more than $200 million investment in growth.

The digital infrastructure provider said it has immediate plans to invest in the facility to expand capacity to 4 megawatts of critical IT power and 6 megawatts of total commercial capacity. US Signal also said it will deploy its cloud and virtualization services at the facility.
