GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — It was another night of mourning and remembrance for the Grand Rapids community as people once again gathered to honor the lives of Jacqueline Neill and her two teenage sons, Cameron and Michael Kilpatrick, who were shot and killed last week.
The vigil drew the attention of local leaders and marked the second time the community has come together in grief since the deadly shooting. While the pain remains heavy, family members and community leaders say the night also carried a message of hope and resilience.
“We all hope that someone will see this and say, ‘Today’s the day I’m gonna call the number, today’s the day I’m gonna get out of this bad situation,’” said Joanne Elzinga, Neill’s younger sister, in reference to the domestic violence hotline number.
