Woman who assumed identity of real licensed nurse to work at nursing home receives prison sentence

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Gray News) – A Michigan woman has been sentenced for posing as a registered nurse and working at a nursing home, according to the Department of Justice.

In a release, the Justice Department said 51-year-old Leticia Gallarzo has been sentenced to 75 months in prison for creating false medical records indicating she was licensed as a registered nurse. She was also sentenced for aggravated identity theft after she fraudulently assumed the identity of a real nurse licensed in Michigan.

Federal officials said Gallarzo assumed the real nurse’s identity before applying for employment at a nursing home in the Western District of Michigan, where she worked from August 2022 to May 2023…
