Contractor must pay $130K for unfinished projects, court says

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) — A Grand Rapids contractor has been ordered to pay over $130,000 in restitution for taking payment for home improvement projects that were never finished.

Wesley Pawloski was sentenced in an Ottawa County court Monday on three counts of fraudulent use of a building contract fund, which he pleaded guilty to in June. He was placed on probation for three years and ordered to pay $139,973 in restitution, according to court records.

Deputies: Contractor cheated people out of $100K

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said they began investigating Pawloski in 2023 after a resident said they had paid Blackstone Partners LLC — owned by Pawloski — for construction work, but it never got done. Investigators also found out several subcontractors that had provided services to Blackstone Partners were never paid in full for their work.

Charges were authorized against Pawloski in Aug. 2024. A month later, deputies learned Pawloski was still taking money for projects under a different business name: Designed Construction LLC. More people had paid for unfinished projects…
