‘Just a blast’: West Michigan woman helping at the Olympics

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — When Julie Warnke landed in Milan a little over a week ago, she was only a reserve volunteer. But after a couple days and a little persistence, she got the email that changed her trip completely.

You could say Julie’s past several days have been filled to the brim with excitement and a little bit of chaos — especially after a delayed and bumpy start to her trip to Milan.

“I did not make my connection,” said Warnke, an Olympic volunteer. “I ended up at a different airport, not the one that I’m going to fly out of.”…
