GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Weeks away from the grand opening celebration for the new community center at Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Grand Rapids, one group of neighbors isn’t thrilled with how it all turned out.
The complaints are coming from the Martin Luther King Park Lodge Activities of Community Sports Coalition, which says it was left out of the planning process for the lodge and park where the group has hosted youth sports leagues for decades.
Members of the community sports coalition, which called the meeting to gather input for the future to share with the city, remembered the first conversations about renovating the lodge and facilities at MLK Park fondly.
