Shortly before 5 a.m. on February 10, 2025, police and fire crews responded to a house fire in the 5200 block of Merganser Way in Bensalem Township, Bucks County. Video from the scene showed heavy flames engulfing the residence. Investigators later determined that an accelerant had been ignited, triggering an explosion that leveled the rear of the home and trapped six adults inside. Three occupants escaped by jumping from a second-floor window. All six victims were transported for treatment of minor burns and smoke inhalation. The residence was completely destroyed, and the family’s two dogs were killed in the fire.
Authorities identified Harrison Jones, 22, of Rockford, Michigan, as the suspect. Investigators said he drove more than 700 miles from Michigan to Pennsylvania to set the fire. During a news conference held one week after the incident, William McVay stated, “He drove over 730 miles — 11 hours — to do what he did and drove directly back home.” McVay added, “This family was extremely lucky to survive this. It is clear to us that Mr. Jones had murderous intentions.”
Police said Jones was the former boyfriend of a 21-year-old woman who had recently entered into an online relationship with a 22-year-old man who lived at the Merganser Way residence. Investigators described the motive as “revenge-fueled” following the end of that relationship…
