Grand Rapids man gets 15 year max sentence for felon-in-possession gun case

A Grand Rapids man received the maximum sentence for a gun charge.

32-year-old Maurice Ray, Jr. was sentenced to 15 years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

In April 2025, Ray’s girlfriend called 911, reporting she was being kidnapped on a ride to Lansing, according to evidence at the trial.
