Melt the Ice, a benefit concert, took stage at The Fountain Street Church on Sunday, raising over $49,000 for families and communities impacted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The Feb. 15 event united community partners and local musicians, smashing donation and turnout expectations. The Fountain Street Church was buzzing with approximately 1,400 visitors of all ages roaming the halls, learning, listening and dancing as bands performed in support and solidarity.
“Everyone pitched in,” said John Haines, a member of the steering committee for Kent County Indivisible and one of the event’s key organizers. “If there was a snag here or there, everyone pitched in. It was a great feeling; it was positive.”…
