Grand Rapids driver gets 20-40 years in prison for fatal 2023 Kalamazoo crash

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A Grand Rapids woman is spending the next two-to-four decades in prison for a 2023 Black Friday crash that killed a Portage woman and left a man critically injured.

Monday, Nyra Whitelow was sentenced to 20-40 years with 29 days credit for second-degree murder, and 2-5 years with 29 days credit for reckless driving causing serious impairment, News Channel 3 confirmed with Kalamazoo County’s 9th Circuit Court.

This comes nearly three years after Audrey Hensley, 22, was killed and her boyfriend was critically injured in a crash on Nov. 24, 2023.
