Court docs: Wrong man doxed after GRPD shooting

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man has been charged after investigators say he made a Facebook post that mistakenly identified the officer involved in a recent shooting in Grand Rapids, causing that man — who was not actually involved — to receive threats and move his family out of their home.

Michael Buxton, 44, was arraigned Thursday morning on one count of unlawful posting of a message and one count of using a computer to commit a crime, court documents show. Online records show he was booked into the Kent County jail Tuesday.

According to a probable cause affidavit, investigators say Buxton made a Facebook post misidentifying the officer involved in the deadly shooting.
