Gala to benefit Honor Flight taking veterans to D.C.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — An upcoming gala will celebrate the 25th Mid-Michigan Honor Flight and raise funds for future flights.

The event is scheduled for 5 p.m. May 2 at the Grand Rapids Sheraton Airport Hotel. Tickets are $150 per person and can be purchased online. There will be a buffet dinner, cash bar, auctions and remarks from retired U.S. Army Maj. Jonathan Turnbull of Gaylord, who will share his story of survival after being grievously injured in Syria in 2019.

Proceeds will support the Honor Flight, which takes veterans of World War II, Korea and Vietnam on a two-day trip to Washington, D.C., to see memorials and other sights…
