240 pounds of cocaine seized at Blue Water Bridge, Canadian authorities say

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Canada Border Services Agency says it has intercepted more than 240 pounds of cocaine at the Blue Water Bridge.

The seizure happened on Feb. 19. A commercial truck coming from Michigan was identified for a secondary examination. While inspecting the trailer, border services officers found 111.4 kilograms of suspected cocaine.

The two men in the truck were arrested: 29-year-old Sarkaren Vir Singh of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and 25-year-old Chamkaur Singh of Belleville, Ontario. They have been charged with importation of cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Michae Prosia, the Regional Director General of CBSA’s Southern Ontario Region, called the seizure “significant.”…
