GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — On March 18, Grand Valley State University and its Kutsche Office of Local History will host the 17th Annual Local History Roundtable, a free event for the community.
“If you’re interested in local history … I definitely encourage you to come out,” said Ryan Moore, office coordinator for the Kutsche Office of Local History for GVSU.
Saugatuck arts center to host all-day documentary festival
Beginning at 3 p.m., roundtable attendees will hear a keynote address on the history of Native Americans around the Great Lakes and a panel discussion about the Grand Rapids Women’s Resource Center.
“Especially in its early years, when it was established to help women find employment,” Moore said.
The keynote address will be delivered by Eric Hemenway, an expert on the Anishinabek people, and the presentation will include lessons on how the Great Lakes’ Indigenous tribes responded to settlers during the founding of the United States…
